IN LOVING MEMORY

Monty Long started cabinet and millwork in the early 1970's at Seattle Central College after returning home from serving 4 years in Vietnam Nam in the Navy.

After graduation, he met his wife and started a family. Necessity required him to work and so he accepted his first job at a large company that built Alaskan fishing boats. Soon after, Monty started his shipwright career at a small boat yard on Lake Union, until he retired in 2000.

He began experimenting with marquetry in 2006, and over the next 20 years, perfected a method he said was "quite simple". He has finished over 3 dozen images, of which he sold a few and gifted several. Influenced by Dadaism and the lack of power tools.

Fusing pop iconology, symbolism and experimental abstraction, an artist and craftsman. We are happy to share the extraordinary and curious artwork of Monty Long - father, husband, friend, artist and life long student. We Miss You.
